Life As An Influencer is a ‘behind the scenes’ view of the often hectic world of influencer marketing. This week we hear from Laura Edwards, AKA Laura Bubble, Comedian, Presenter, Eater of cake…@laurbubble
How did you get started?
I started making content as a teenager, making comedy videos on YouTube back in 2007. Vlogging was fairly new back then so I started making sketches using a webcam and windows movie maker.
Who/what has been your biggest influence?
I’ve had multiple influences when making content. I usually find that comedy comes from people watching and seeing how different people interact with each other.
What platform has been most effective for you and why?
TikTok has been a great platform for me and I’ve been lucky enough to gain over 1 million followers. However I also love making longer videos on YouTube so these two platforms are definitely my favourite.
What has been your biggest achievement so far?
That’s a very good question. I think my biggest achievement so far has been my ability to successfully make my hobby into a career.
Where do you see the industry in 5 years time?
I think digital content will continue to grow but I think the ‘influencer’ culture will shift, especially during lockdown and people making good, well produced content will gain more popularity over reality tv stars.
If you had one wish what would it be?
To maintain a good work-life balance. I think it’s easy to let work dominate sometimes so I’d like to know that in a few years’ time, I’m working hard, maintaining my social life and also staying healthy.
