The BCMA welcomed a wonderful mix of people on Tuesday evening at DigitasLBi in London’s East End to mark the launch of the BOBCM 10th Anniversary edition ebook. The ebook was produced in partnership with DMC and New Media Works.
Simultaneous events took place in London and New York (at MRY) which was the first time we had taken this approach which was very exciting. The framework of the evening was a series of short presentations from the key supporters and contributors to the ebook. This was followed by a panel session on the future of branded content.
We also filmed spontaneous ‘vox pops’ about what the audience thought “would change and what would stay the same over the next 5-years” for branded content.
We believe this new ebook is an important landmark publication giving the industry unprecedented access to great examples of branded content best practice in one place alongside, in-depth research reports and expert predictions on what the future holds for branded content.
The first speaker was Mike Clear, Head of Branded Content at DigitasLBi, a leading global marketing and technology agency that transforms businesses for the digital age. Mike gave us an overview of their Sony Xperia project featured in the ebook, Xperia™ Z Vs The Northern Lights: From Under Other Stars.
Next up was Christopher Lockwood, Editorial & Publishing Director at Adjust Your Set, a full-service digital content agency designed for next generation marketing. He explained how their Carphone Warehouse campaign, “Smarter World”, changed perceptions of the brand amongst core consumers.
It was then the turn of Cat Jones, Head of Business Development at Unruly Media, the global platform for social video marketing, who gave us their fascinating perspective on how to do successful Social Video content based on their “Top 7 Social Video Trends” report.
We then heard from Steve Ackerman, Managing Director at Somethin’ Else who are celebrated across many platforms and awarded internationally at the highest level for their work. Steve shared their work for Chivas Mashtun, Art of Hosting campaign.
Finally, Justin Kirby, VP, Strategic Content Marketing at Tenthwave Digital who took us through their work for Duct Tape campaign, “Race of Gentlemen”. He then went on to explain the background to the BOBCM10 ebook and the incredibly collaborative nature of the publication.
The presentations were well received by the audience and we would like to thank our contributors for sharing their incredibly insightful views.
The panel session was a lively debate with great questions from the audience relating to the work presented and the views of the expert panellists on what the future of branded content could look like.
